Stories have been told about how dogs chase mail carriers. In fact, according to the Washington Post, 6,549 postal workers were attacked by dogs in 2015. That number was up 14% from the year before! But why do dogs attack the mail carriers? Perhaps because the dogs are just are being protective of their families.

The postal worker is seen as a threat. One man on petfinder.com suggested that it is rude, in the eyes of a dog, to not allow them to at least sniff you – and postal workers show up every day, never allowing the dog to smell them. One postal worker in New Zealand has an incredible relationship with one family’s dog! The unnamed postal worker stops by the house – even if he doesn’t have mail to deliver to the home!
