This is the sea otter equivalent of a kid getting lost in the supermarket.

Rescuers brought a two-day-old sea otter pup, who had drifted away in a strong tide, back to its mother in Morro Bay, California, last week.

According to the Marine Mammal Center, whose responders conducted the rescue, it’s not often that rescuers are able to reunite a mother and child successfully. In this case, they were able to identify the mother by holding the pup in front of several otters to see which one responded.

We assume the mom responded with, “Oh, you are so grounded.”
