Indian Railways has joined hands with Google to provide WiFi at 400 stations of the country. Once everything is in place, users will be able to access high speed internet, free of cost, for the first 30 minutes at the stations. As of now, Indian Railways provides WiFi inside some moving trains like Rajdhani Express, with the help of satellite communication technology. Internet connectivity is something that is very crucial in this age, and everyone wants tobe, and often needs to be, online 24×7.
Thankfully for the youth of digital India, the administration is actively working towards bringing connectivity on the go for Indians. The Indian Railways has worked out a partnership that will give the extra push that this initiative needs, and Google has promised to do that. As per a report by ABP news, Google will bring WiFi to 400 railway stations in India. The project which is expected to start providing service in the next four months, will also be extended to Indian cities as ‘Project Nilgiri’. This partnership seems to be a boost that the government’s digital India campaign needed badly. Google is all set to join hands with Indian Railways to offer Wi-fi service to about 400 railway stations across the country. Dubbed as ‘Project Nilgiri’, the search engine giant has partnered with RailTel for the infrastructure to commence the project which makes use of Google’s Fiber technology. If all goes as anticipated, users would be able to use broadband at a lightening speed in these locations.
