Warner Brothers stood out on headlines last week when it announced it was making a standalone Joker movie which is to be directed by “The Hangover” movie producer Todd Phillips and, shockingly, produced by Martin Scorsese. In any case, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed a major reason behind why Warner Brothers needed Scorsese behind the scenes: The studio would like to draw Scorsese muse Leonardo DiCaprio to star.
The movie will be the first under another Warner Brothers standard that allows DC characters and stories be removed from group and reinterpreted with new artists. The story will track the ascent of a youthful Joker as he turns into the biggest criminal in Gotham City.
The Joker was last played by Jared Leto in “Suicide Squad” which gathered a massive hit at the box office. The Hollywood reporters say, “Leto isn’t too happy about a potential standalone Joker film starring a different actor”. DiCaprio has not been offered a part in the movie yet. But Warner Brothers is doing whatever is necessary to return their superhero films.
