Society teaches us not to judge a book by its cover, but then again it’s also filled with body shaming, plastic surgery and makeup to better your appearance. While I wish the world would make its mind up, even I’ll admit first impressions are everything.
You can tell a lot about a person by how they dress and represent themselves. Whether they’re an introvert, what subculture they belong to, or even if they suffer from certain medical conditions. But are there subtle things that are secretly revealing something major about who we are?
1. People can (accurately) judge you on your physical appearance
A study was conducted whereby 123 undergrads were asked to be photographed in two different poses. One was a neutral facial expression while the other could be in any pose. Strangers were then asked to judge a certain aspect of their personality. The findings proved that no matter what position the undergrad took, the viewers were surprisingly accurate. Interestingly, people were better at judging someone’s extroversion and level of self-esteem over any other trait.
