See Giant Snake Photos Explained

Some of the BIGGEST snakes in the world, these 8 incredible images of giant snakes are broken down and explained.

The Truth: Fluffy was the largest snake in the world and was entered into the Guinness World Records in 2009. Bred by Bob Clark of Bob Clark Captive Bred Reptiles, she was a very large Tiger Reticulated Python born in 1992. She was a gentle giant and was sold to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in 2008. She passed away 3 years later prematurely due to a tumor. The current longest living snake is Medusa at 25 feet 2 inches (7.67 meters). She is another large Reticulated Python owned by Full Moon Productions Inc. in Kansas City, MO. She acquired this record in 2011 and still holds the record.
Most Reticulated Pythons reach a maximum length of 10-20 feet (3-6 meters). Often these larger-than-average snakes have been “power fed,” are obese, and die prematurely. Fluffy, for instance, passed away at 18-years-old. For a snake that should have lived well into her mid-20s to early 30s, she died prematurely, yet longer than many of these overfed snakes.
