These Steps Aren’t Just Beautiful — When The Sun Goes Down, They Transform

If you’ve ever visited San Francisco (or you’re lucky enough to live there), you already know that the city is a cultural hub that’s full of musical, visual, and culinary life. And no expression of creativity better encompasses the city’s love of all things artistic than this.

Covering the 163 steps at 16th and Moraga with a beautifully colorful mosaic, the “16th Avenue Tiled Steps Project” stuns everyone who’s lucky enough to pass by on their way from point A to point B.

As you can see, it’s gorgeous in natural light.

But when the moon shines down on the steps, they totally transform.

How pretty is that? If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be packing my bags for the Golden Gate City.

Street art has a bad rap in some circles, but projects like this prove that getting a daily dose of art when you least expect it can be such a gratifying experience. To learn more about the installation, check this out!
