Thumbs Down: Facebook Tests Its Much-Awaited Dislike Button

It’s been in talks since long. People have given ample of suggestions to Facebook for commencing the use of “Dislike” button. The long awaited button will be active on the social media network with more than one billion users testing it.

Having said that, it would be first used on trial basis on Facebook Messenger for few users. The only resistance to implementing the Dislike button is the fear of it becoming the weapon for online bullying.

This test could be counted as a compromise as they ignored the usage of dislike button on the application. It will be used in the Messenger app for the purpose of rejecting call.

The only difference between the reactions and the dislike button is the usage on different verticals of Facebook. Reactions are used on the Facebook social networking site, whereas the dislike button is used only in Facebook’s messaging application. Observing the reactions since they are launched, love is being used most of the time from its users.

A Facebook representative has said in an interview, “We’re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message.” If the result goes well, they will update it on every Messenger app.

Though it is not the most desirable option, which the people are looking for, it is also not deniable amongst the users.

Facebook feels the dislike button is better to be considered as “no” instead of taking it as “Dislike” since most of the people use it for making their planning and coordination better.
