A Video Shows Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Arguing with a Driver over Fares

A new video shows that Uber CEO was having a clash with a driver at the end of the ride for fare charges. The kickstarter of a heated conversation started when the driver started talking about the status of Uber’s premium services. The high-end service was introduced in 2010.

The question raised by the driver Fawzi Kamel was about why he dropped the prices for the services. As per previous reports, the per-mile rate stays the same. Since there is low price option for the public for Uberpool services, UberBlack is in less demand!

Moreover, the drivers have claimed that the demand for UberBlack has decreased. According to early news, one of the spokespeople from Uber said that the market has gone up in places like San Francisco and Los Angeles. However, it couldn’t grow as the growing percentage of UberX.

The driver also informed the CEO that he had a loss of $97,000 because of the high-cost vehicle paradox that merely qualifies for UberBlack demand.

Bloomberg has also reported that after the video went viral, he has sent an apology email to his staff for his rude behavior.

Kalanick also wrote, “To say that I am ashamed is an extreme understatement, my job as your leader is to lead…and that starts with behaving in a way that makes us all proud. That is not what I did, and it cannot be explained away. It’s clear this video is a reflection of me—and the criticism we’ve received is a stark reminder that I must fundamentally change as a leader and grow up. This is the first time I’ve been willing to admit that I need leadership help and I intend to get it. I want to profoundly apologize to Fawzi, as well as the driver and rider community, and to the Uber team.
